In a relationship

I was browsing Facebook a few minutes ago when I saw that a classmate back in high school changed his status from “single” to “in a relationship”. I would not have minded it if I didn’t see who he is having a relationship with. It’s someone from our batch! I don’t know it just felt so weird! I just thought that do you really get into a relationship with the laughingstock? Do you actually want for others to gossip about you in a reunion or gatherings?
You get into a relationship with the adorable class clown, or with the popular guys, or the quiet ones with a lot of friends.
When I think about it, I actually admire the girl. Imagine declaring to the whole batch that you are in love with the man who was (and still is) being called a horse. Wow! You went past that and focused on what the man really is all about.
I am probably still after appearance; or that after being one of the “bullies” in school, I am still scared of being bullied now. I am scared of being laughed at or gossiped about. I am scared of “tarnishing” my reputation!
Honestly, I laughed when I first read about the change of status. But now, while writing this entry, I actually am happy for them. He was married the last time we saw each other during a small gathering with other high school classmates. I don’t know why he was suddenly single and then now in a relationship with someone from the batch.
